Summary of the Tathata Golf Program – Day 2

In day two you’ll see a 37-minute video that puts together the warm-up movements of day one into a continuous unit instead of a bunch of individual exercises.

These warm-up exercises are important to the Tathata Golf Training Program because the body positions and the core position will be repeated again during the second part of today’s video.

In the second part of today’s video is an introduction to the set-up. It shows you the correct way to approach the golf ball prior to the shot.

First, though, let’s talk about the warm up.

Warm-up Putting It All Together

The video takes all of the individual exercises shown on Day 1 and puts them together into one warm-up routine.

It becomes clear in the second part of today’s video how important the positions and energy of the warm-up exercises is transferred to other parts of the program. 

The warm-up routine, if not a little bit long, will prepare you for further exercise or a round of golf.

Introduction to the Set-up

The second half of the video talks about approaching the golf ball and setting your body up to take the shot.

I’ll admit, I was impressed with the comparisons used during the video.

He shows older video of Jack Nicklaus and Mikey Wright as they approached the golf shot. The words that capture it the most are Set-up to the Ball With Intention.

Showing the set-up positions of Nicklaus, Hogan, Micky Wright, and Gary Player you see how they storing energy in their core. Just like how the warm-up exercises concentrate on core and glute tension.

All four of the above-mentioned golfers’ set-up to the golf ball with their feet are turned out, the back foot is slightly drawn back, their head down and core compressed and centered.

Similar to how martial artists store energy in a crouched and balanced position to later explosively release the energy in a kick.

The video also relates the correct setup position to Micheal Phelps, Usana Bolt, and Nolan Ryan before they either go off the pool platform, push out of the blocks, or throws the ball toward the plate.

Preparing for the explosion in the golf swing all starts in the set-up.

A proper setup puts you in a great position to hit the golf ball well.
